Video Specialist/Editor

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Video Specialist/Editor is reviewing audio and visual footage and using computer software tools to organize clips into a cohesive unit. Their duties include splitting or combining video clips, adding appropriate sounds and graphics, while following all post-production procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A Video Editor is tasked with taking the raw footage shot by production team and turning it into the final product. This means following an outline, script or shot list and assembling the footage into one cohesive video or film. Often in video and film work, there are many camera angles and takes recorded. The Video Editor will work with the director producer to review all the footage to create the best output by cutting and connecting various footage, adding sound effects and graphics and fine-tuning the completed video or film.

• Assembling raw and DIY footage and transferring or uploading to a computer
• Following a script, screenplay or outline
• Inputting sound to enhance footage, which may include selecting music and adding voice-overs
• Creating still and motion graphics e.g., After Effects
• Color grading and correction of footage.
• Working closely with producer / director to produce a final product for client
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

Education and/or Experience

• 3 to 5 years of proven work experience as a professional video editor
• Prove experience with excellent skills sets in digital technology and editing software packages (e.g., Adobe creative cloud suite, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator Photoshop, Microsoft office).
• Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio / reel
• Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
• Must be a great communicator
• Works well in a team environment
• Willing to broaden skill sets in other parts of video production
