Join us on our mission to reverse diabetes in 100M people.We are recruiting an experienced scientist to join Virta’s experienced Clinical Research team leading a new focus on HEOR.The clinical research team’s mission is to “prove” and improve patient health outcomes with unwavering commitment to the patient, scientific rigor, and ethics — to demonstrate Virta’s value to patients, providers, payers, and policy makers and to identify opportunities to augment or optimize health outcomes for our patients. See the team’s work here.Transitioning to an era where long-term health outcomes and economic impact move to the center of the metabolic health space, we’re adding real world evidence to the focus of the clinical research team, and hence are searching for a scientist who has built a portfolio of work leveraging claims and clinical datasets to demonstrate the impact of a clinical health program.This individual contributor will have three primary areas of responsibility:• Developing real world evidence supporting Virta’s impact on clinical and economic outcomes, in collaboration with the Virta data science team and external data resources, from data warehouses to health plans and employers.• Analyzing claims sets provided by partners and external sources to demonstrate Virta’s clinical and economic value proposition.• Teaching Virta about economic and outcome analysis and advancing this area of research within the organization.Key day-to-day Responsibilities• Responsible for leading the development and implementation of HEOR strategies to evaluate Virta’s services.• Strategically align Virta’s scientific work with key national and international conferences, meetings, and symposia.• Represent Virta’s science on the podium at scientific meetings, in calls and presentations with Virta’s clients and sales prospects, and at internal meetings.• Develop and advance a real world evidence program, leveraging source of data both within and outside of Virta.• Work cross functionally to inject evidence into Virta processes - from clinical care to coaching to product development.• Collaborate closely with the marketing team and the sales team on communication strategies that leverage Virta’s evidence.Qualifications:• A doctoral degree in health economics, public health, pharmacoeconomics, or a related health field is required.• At least five years analyzing and publishing claims sets and presenting economic outcomes of a clinical program.• At least three years of business experience working in a start-up or related high-growth organization in order to translate Virta science for the marketplace. (Clinical researchers who have not worked for an early- or growth-stage company will not have the requisite business skills to translate Virta science for the marketplace.)• Outstanding scientific writing skills. The successful candidate will have drafted, edited, and published multiple peer-reviewed publications both as first author.• Direct experience working with the compliance side of research.• Poise. We are looking for an investigator who is comfortable in front of an audience, presents naturally and with authority, and will help build the Virta brand.• Develop HEOR strategies and tactics that are evidence-based, scientifically and technically sound, and relevant to both patients and medical professionals, with a focus on clinical, humanistic, and economic impact.• Prioritize and plan the development of HEOR tools within budget limitations, ensuring alignment with business priorities and annual goals.• Collaborate with and influence stakeholders across various business units and divisions to ensure that future products demonstrate their value.• Build robust HEOR models and value propositions, grounded in market research and informed by cross-functional insights.• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R or other programming languages for conducting claims analysisValues-driven cultureVirta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:• You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally• You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same• You prioritize positive impact over busy work• You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience• You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information• You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma• You take risks and rapidly iterateIs this role not quite what you're looking for? Throughout your career at Virta, you will be expected to follow Virta's security and privacy procedures to ensure our patients' information remains strictly confidential. Security and privacy training will be provided.Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
