Job Description

Visa Foundation seeks to support inclusive economies where everyone, everywhere can thrive. Established in 2017, the Visa Foundation provides both grants and investments to partners to strengthen small businesses and communities worldwide. The Foundation currently supports efforts to strengthen small and growing businesses, address vulnerable communities where Visa has a significant employee presence, and provide immediate relief to communities impacted by natural disasters. To date, the Foundation and its partners have impacted 4+m small businesses and individuals worldwide while committing nearly USD 250m in capital.

Position Summary 

The Manager role will support the full scope of grantmaking activities at Visa Foundation. Specifically, the Manager will support grantmaking to NGOs that prioritize the growth of gender diverse and inclusive small businesses, facilitating their access to digital financial services, training, and resources to help these enterprises fully thrive. Further, the role will help ensure that philanthropic resources are disbursed responsibly and efficiently across other programmatic areas including community impact, disaster response and Board-directed grants, while complying with internal and external requirements.

To be successful in this role, the Manager should be adept at working in matrixed, international organizations and work effectively with external and internal stakeholders. They will also be responsible for impact data and reporting on the grant portfolio, and thus perform portfolio wide analysis with a focus towards incorporating lessons learned in future decision-making. The preferred candidate should have a passion for impact at scale, strong analytical skills, and a high degree of autonomy in a collaborative, global Foundation. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Global Grants and Partnerships. 

Essential Functions

Grant Management (65%):

·         Support the Sr. Director in identifying, developing and nurturing, grantee partnerships around the world that support the growth of gender diverse and inclusive small businesses through access to financial services, training, and other resources.

·         Lead Visa Foundation’s efforts that deepen Visa’s community presence, specifically through a program called Visa Foundation Gives, a multi-year initiative dedicated to addressing local socio-economic issues in communities surrounding Visa’s largest offices, globally, and to provide employees with new opportunities to support, engage with and volunteer in their communities.

·         As needed, support the Sr. Director and President of Visa Foundation with grants that are directed by its Board of Directors.

Portfolio Management (20%): Assist with portfolio-wide analysis, financial and impact management. Help foster learning and connection across grants. Conduct quarterly and annual overviews in partnership with the Grants team as well as support the team with legal and operational tasks for grantees.

Internal and External Communication (15%): Support Visa Foundation leadership team with internal and external presentations, reports, and programmatic updates. Work closely with the communications team to elevate the work that the Foundation is leading. 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work
experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with
a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant
experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant
experience with a PhD in the field of philanthropy
• Experience as a grant-maker, preferably with private foundations, with thorough knowledge of the
policies and practices that govern them.
• Passionate about using grants and investments as a tool for supporting the growth of women-led
MSMEs.
• Experience in a consulting or investment function is a plus.
• Ability to integrate technology into work. Expert level in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Stellar writing and editing abilities, as well as oral communications skills.
• Strong analytical skills and proven ability to connect dots among different work streams.
• Comfortable communicating with all levels of stakeholders internally and externally.
• Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, self-starter, and an exceptional work ethic.
• Experience working in emerging markets a plus, as is fluency in foreign languages.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and manage multiple projects, often
on short deadlines and under pressure.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 132,300.00 to 191,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
