Job Description

Visa’s Technology Organization is a community of problem solvers and innovators reshaping the future of commerce.   We operate the world’s most sophisticated processing networks capable of handling more than 65k secure transactions a second across 80M merchants, 15k Financial Institutions, and billions of everyday people.   While working with us you’ll get to work on complex distributed systems and solve massive scale problems centered on new payment flows, business and data solutions, cyber security, and B2C platforms.     

The Opportunity: 

We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale.  As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.   

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Testing: Architect, develop, and execute comprehensive performance test plans and scenarios to validate system performance against defined benchmarks. Implement and utilize application performance monitoring (APM) tools to proactively identify and resolve potential performance issues. AI and GENAI Integration with Performance Testing and Predictive Analysis. Define and enforce best practices for performance testing, load testing, stress testing, and capacity planning across the organization. Conduct thorough analysis of performance test results and generate detailed reports with actionable insights for stakeholders.

Capacity Planning: Perform detailed capacity planning to ensure that systems can handle anticipated load and provide data-driven recommendations for scaling.

Development: Design, develop, test and maintain code for the Visa Resolve Online application. Participate in the technology proof-of-concepts and learn new technologies and frameworks. Utilize new technologies and frameworks, such as AI and generative AI, to enhance the functionality and performance of the application

Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain performance testing scripts and automation frameworks using industry-standard tools such as Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, and NeoLoad.

Industry Trends: Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and methodologies in performance testing and capacity planning.

**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. Advance degree is also welcome.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in Development, performance testing and capacity planning.
  • Tools Proficiency: Expertise in performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, and familiarity with APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or AppDynamics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or JavaScript, and a solid understanding of software performance tuning, optimization, and scalability. StrongSQL skills required. DB2 database experience preferred. Strong Core Java skills. Fundamental knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting. AI and generative AI skills are highly desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex problems.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
  • CI/CD: Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Containerization: Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
