Salary for Announcement

The minimum of the pay range for this position is $41,200. We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $46,300 - $52,000 . The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. Additionally, Student Affairs has committed to tying our salaries to an understanding of a living wage. To that end, we will not pay less than $46,300.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, Communications and Events, this position oversees all visits planning, including daily campus tours, for the Office of Admissions in support of the University's specific enrollment goals and broader strategic plan, and assists with recruitment marketing and communications where needed. The position collaborates with all recruitment teams within Admissions, including transfer and first year, as well as other campus departments, faculty, and staff for recruitment efforts and involvement. The position's primary responsibility is managing and coordinating daily campus visits, group visits and student Visit Ambassadors.

In support of the larger visit experience, the position is responsible for overseeing the MSU Denver Welcome Desk. The position ensures a high-level of customer service is provided to students, parents, staff, faculty and visitors of the University. Responsibilities of the Welcome Desk include budget management, purchasing, and reporting.

This position recruits, hires, trains, mentors and supervises an enthusiastic team of student tour guides. These students are cross-trained to work both the Welcome Desk and provide campus tours.

Duties/Responsibilities

25% - Recruits, hires, trains, mentors and supervises a group of student Visit Ambassadors, who operate the MSU Denver Welcome Desk and lead campus tours. Provides regular training to student employees so they can provide accurate and timely information about the University. Supervise and evaluate student employees to ensure that they are providing the highest level of customer service, as well as displaying a positive and helpful attitude. Processes student employee paperwork, including payroll, work-study awards and scheduling.

25% - Organizes, coordinates and oversees daily on-campus visits to create a warm and welcoming experience for prospective students. Coordinates daily and group visit programs, which includes a presentation conducted by an Admissions Counselor and a campus tour provided by a student tour guide. Collaborates with campus partners for involvement in daily recruitment visits and events.

25% - Oversees the daily operations of the MSU Denver Welcome Desk. Responsible for desk coverage and high-level customer service for students, parents, staff, faculty and visitors of the University by answering general inquiries and enrollment-related questions.

10% - Assists with larger recruitment marketing and communication efforts where needed. Manages the Visits email inbox. Uses Slate, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software system to set up and manage events and communicate with students regarding upcoming opportunities to visit campus.

5% - Stays on top of industry developments, including changes in regulations, technology and best practices. Serves on internal and external committees related to recruitment of students to the University.

5% - Supports large events, such as Open House, Admitted Student Events and other larger recruitment events as needed.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Experience with visits and events planning, university admissions or hospitality services
  • Customer service experience
  • Detail oriented and ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an admissions office or in higher education
  • Experience with student supervision
  • Experience using Slate, or comparable customer relationship management system (CRM)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated excellence in quality and accuracy of work
  • Ability to work with and be sensitive to the education needs of a diverse urban population

Work Hours

  • 40 hours per week
  • Hybrid schedule (on-campus and remote) available for this position.
