Visual (UI) Web Designer (Contractor)

About the opportunity

We are currently looking for a talented visual designer to help lead a newly developing creative team at Contentful. The ideal candidate will have both agency and in-house experience, building out visual web experiences for technology companies.

What to expect?

• Opportunity to impact/define interaction and UI design for Contentful.com
• Work closely with the Senior Art Director and Creative Director to deliver on-brand, high quality experiences across Contentful.com
• Design and build out flexible UI design systems that can be used across Contentful's web properties
• Work directly with Web Product Manager and UX Designer to articulate experiences from strategic UX direction into implementation with our development team and Art Director
• Establish effective working relationship and process with our front end developers for technical validation, scalable implementation and design QA
• Partner with content teams, brand experience, and developers to deliver best in class content experiences across Contentful.com
• Attend strategic and tactical meetings to develop design strategies with clarity
• Research and uncover new ways to incorporate emerging technologies and new media formats into our experiences and design library
• Execute and communicate design work daily through Slack, email, and JIRA
• Communicate and work cross-functionally with the Content team, campaign leaders, Events managers, and other stakeholders throughout the company
• Partner with third-party design agencies to consult on integrating work within our design system and web experience
• Occasional travel to Contenful's hub in Denver may be required

What you need to be successful?

• 6+ years in web design or similar role, leading teams of experienced designers within a similar marketing setting
• 8+ years professional design experience
• A portfolio of well executed, impactful web design projects that you have worked on from start to finish
• Hands-on working design skills in addition to experience directing larger multidisciplinary design teams
• A strong background in graphic design, typography, illustration, storytelling, motion, video and similar disciplines
• Experience managing multiple projects and priorities alongside team members to hit competing deadlines
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback to move the team and their work forward
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite

This is a contract position. We are seeking a term of minimum of 90 days with a potential for extending if agreed and needed by the business.

Colorado Salary Statement: The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD/technology), for example.

Colorado Salary Range: $65/hour
