VMware Cloud Architect - (Remote role in USA - Elastic Engineering)

This role will help drive the delivery of a variety of projects for customers, including new development and the modernization of existing cloud infrastructure and applications. You will be part of a team designing, automating, and deploying services on behalf of our customers. We have deep experience applying cloud native techniques in virtually every industry. Critical Competencies

Work with customer to align business goals to technology solutions in a variety of projects
Designing well-architected, documented, and tested software and infrastructure solutions that meet customer requirements
Architecting solutions for migrations, containerization, and transformation tools and projects to customers and internal teams
Writing infrastructure as code Serving as a technical mentor to other team members
Serving as escalation for environment troubleshooting Identifying and addressing bugs, deficiencies, and performance bottlenecks
Participating in an agile delivery team, helping to ensure the technical quality of the features delivered across the team, including documentation, testing strategies, and code review
Leading and presenting technology discussions to client
Helping to determine technical feasibility of solutions for business requirements
Meeting customer SLAs and managing communication in case of issues
Configuring and maintaining backup, monitoring, and alerting systems for multiple clients
Interacting with teams and customers in different time zones for ensuring 24×7 support
Developing advanced Linux/Windows deployment and management automation (Bash/PowerShell/Python/Chef/Ansible)
Remaining up-to-date on emerging technologies and architecture and propose ways to use them in current and upcoming projects

Knowledge

Experience leading technical projects including designing solutions based on business and technical requirements through implementation DevOps and CICD Experience
Able to comfortably design, architect, and oversee implementation of technical solutions and projects
Proficient in networking and security Advanced expertise of common VMware cloud services (NSX-T, Tanzu, vSAN, vRA, vROPS, etc.) and PowerCLI
Service architecture and advanced container experience in Tanzu Experience with CI/CD and code management tools (Git, TFS, Jenkins etc.)
Extensive experience with Terraform In-depth knowledgeable of configuration management frameworks such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible
Experience leading and mentoring engineers
Some experience with any of the following C#, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go
**Must have an active VCP-DCV Certification.**
The following certifications preferred: CCIA, CCEE, CCEA, CCA, MCSE/MCITP, vRealize Operations, NSX and vSAN badge. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their impact on design considerations (HIPAA, PCI, ITAR, etc)

Demonstrate sound problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to take on responsibility
Strong written and verbal communication skills, both highly technical and non-technical
Ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
English language fluency preferred

Supervision:

Operates independently with little to no input required.
Mentors and supervises lower-level engineers.

Experience / Education:

Secondary/High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Requires 8+ years related technical experience in systems engineering, administration and with VMWare, including a minimum of 3-year experience equivalent to a VMware Cloud Engineer III.
Must have an active VCP-DCV Certification.
The following certifications preferred: CCIA, CCEE, CCEA, CCA, MCSE/MCITP, NSX, vRealize Operations and vSAN badge.

Physical Demands:

General remote office environment.
May require extended periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor.
Elevated levels of stress may occur at times.
No special physical demands required.
Due to the 24x7x365 operations of the business, the candidate must be able to work a flexible work schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

For applicants working in California, Colorado, Washington or New York City, we are excited to share the base salary ranges for this position exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonus. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

The anticipated starting pay range of California, Washington state and New York City applicants for this role is $135,300 – $198,440
The anticipated starting pay range of Colorado applicants for this role is $116,100 - $170,280
These ranges for candidates may be modified in the future.
Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments. These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance and may change at any time. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
