Our range of research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production capability help our customers bring their high-quality products to market faster.Pratt & Miller Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic and detailed oriented Product Intern to work closely with a talented cross-functional engineering and manufacturing team on the execution of low-volume production programs.As a Product Intern, you will focus on a growing portfolio of Defense Products while taking ownership and daily responsibility for work-products throughout each phase of the full product lifecycle. Reporting to the Product Director, you will be working within an energetic team focused on fast-paced product development and unsurpassed quality. Typical Defense Products may include items like: vehicle upfit kits, mobility enhancement components, weapon system components and integration kits, radar/surveillance systems, security systems, defense platforms, Counter-UAV solutions, and advanced military vehicles. Effective collaboration and communications with customers, suppliers, engineering, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, and sales is critical to being successful in this position.POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Manage and track all program requirements· Participate in all prototype design, build, testing, and development activities· Help influence the product design in the early stages with focus on manufacturability, commonality, quality, and lessons learned· Create and maintain BOM’s with critical component information· Work with purchasing on supplier selection and production parts procurement· Support and understand all phases of the production fabrication, manufacturing, and assembly process· Own product cost targets and execute a plan to meet/exceed them· Track incoming and in-process quality metrics· Determine and implement corrective actions as needed and generate ECR’s· Ensure early prototype design and build efforts are transferable to Low Rate Production· Lead core production team meetings and be the conduit that unites all key functions· Direct customer interface with in-person support in remote and international locations· Manage product warranty, scrap, obsolescence, and spares activity· Ask the hard questions and challenge team members to drive accountability/ownership· Function as the product expertESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Required Experience and Education:· Broad knowledge of automotive/military vehicle systems engineering· Previous experience with low-volume production programs is highly desired· Knowledge of Product Development Tools and Processes is essential· Strong technical writing, communication, organization and customer service skills· Proficiency with ERP tools and MS Office· Understanding of ITAR Licensing classifications· US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required· Proactive mentality with outstanding multitasking capabilities· Ability to function independently in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environmentDesired Experience and Education:· CAD and GD&T experience is a plus· Defense industry experience is a plus· Vehicle/System testing and manufacturing engineering experience is a plus· Logistics Product Data (LPD) process experience is a plusWORK ENVIRONMENTWork will typically be performed in a team-based office environment. Travel (up to 20%) may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off-site training, off-site testing, and attendance at industry conferences.Pay Range:$18.00 - $37.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
