The Role
Voltus is looking for a driven Accounting Intern with a basic understanding of GAAP and
financial principles and terms who is ready for an immersive, hands-on, and real-world
experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Intern can expect to prepare and book journal entries, participate in the preparation of financial reports, analyze actual financial data, utilize bookkeeping software, and assist with other accounting activities.
Strong candidates for this internship will be motivated team players who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking. These candidates will also possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and a positive attitude. Strong internship candidates will also be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.
This is a remote position. The preferred candidate will have the freedom to work from their
favorite location.
Key Responsibilities- Learn how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company
- Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Prepare financial reports, such as invoices, and other documents as needed
- Prepare reconciliations and booking journal entries
- Work with bookkeeping software, Sage Intacct
- Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
- Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and general operations
- Assist with maintaining and updating internal documentation for processes
- Assist with general accounting tasks in the month end close process
- Prepare data and other support information requests as needed for audits by external auditors
- Assist the Staff Accountant with additional duties
Qualifications- Accounting, Business, Economics, and Math Majors or Minors Preferred
- Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated
- High level of efficiency, accuracy, responsibility, and attention to detail
- Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
