VP of Product

About the role:

Decent is seeking an experienced healthcare and/or insurance product leader to manage and lead our Product team. As our Vice President of Product and part of our leadership team, you will develop, own, and execute Decent’s product strategy and roadmap, you will hire, manage, and grow our existing product team and you will rapidly deliver functionality to the marketplace to delight small business owners and others who are underserved by today’s broken healthcare system.

The VP of Product role is inherently cross-functional. This position requires you to work closely with UX/product design, visual design, marketing, sales, engineering, and other teams to effectively incorporate their feedback and expeditiously meet their needs as you execute on your vision.

You have the ability to efficiently move from clearly articulating high-level vision and roadmap, to drafting succinct and specific product requirements as needed to deliver on your vision. You will have autonomy to define what needs to be built, the full support of an incredible team to help you deliver, and complete ownership around bringing your vision to market.

What you'll do:

• Drive product strategy, providing clear vision on strategic best next steps to meet business objectives.
• Develop and own product roadmaps, aligning cross-functional teams to deliver a product people absolutely love
• Getting cross functional product launches over the line on schedule, in collaboration with our leadership team
• Ensure the development team has clear written product requirements and well-defined user stories.
• Ensure partners and development teams have timely and appropriately detailed requirements to move forward quickly
• Develop and distribute a product strategy that bridges the technical and business worlds and balances our short-term and long-term business objectives
• Manage and lead Decent’s product and design teams, empowering these teams to deliver core business functionality quickly.
• Partner directly with company founders to rapidly drive our business forward, identify new opportunities for Decent, and affect long-term organizational change

About you:

• 8+ years of product experience, including in healthcare and/or insurance, that includes at least 4+ years of demonstrable hands-on experience as a product leader with active customer engagement
• Entrepreneurial spirit, drive, and creativity, including willingness to roll up your sleeves and be a hands-on help to your team
• Experience shaping product team cultures, and cultivating empowered teams (not feature factories)
• Experience with Salesforce, and general excitement to use workable 3rd party systems to serve core needs efficiently while finding the highest-leverage points for proprietary innovation
• Proven track record of building, shipping, and iterating on several products and/or significant features that users love (please provide links to these examples, if public, or screenshots)
• Demonstrated experience building roadmaps for and managing cross-functional teams to deliver these products
• Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for data-driven decision-making
• Hands-on customer development experience, with demonstrated understanding of user behavior research and strong understanding of trends in the healthcare, insure-tech or fin-tech industries
• Passionate about our mission and obsessed with delivering the best customer experience
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, prioritization and organizational skills
• Strong informed opinions about how to build product teams to scale work efficiently
• Experience working in Kanban or Agile product development environments with outcomes based approach to project management

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Demonstrated experience delivering customer-obsessed healthcare, insure-tech or fin-tech products
• Prior entrepreneurial experience, or working in a small startup environment or on product development for early-stage high-growth companies
• Demonstrated experience incentivizing customer behavior, identifying and reducing application friction, and working backwards from customer needs toward solution to be delivered
• Excellent people-management skills, coupled with strong individual contributor capabilities. You will be working as a product leader (high-level strategy, vision, shaping, process definition), a people manager, and a product manager in this role.
