As a Counselor at our Raleigh school, your primary responsibilities will include implementing a comprehensive school counseling program, promoting social-emotional learning, collaborating with teachers to enhance student success, and connecting with families to address their needs. You will also work with students in individual or small group settings, respond to crises, and foster a positive school climate.

To become a Counselor in Raleigh, you need a Master’s degree in School Counseling, along with at least five years of counseling experience in a public-school environment. Additionally, you must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license in School Counseling.

The Counselor collaborates with teachers and staff by providing support for social-emotional learning initiatives, sharing insights about student needs, and helping to create a positive learning environment. This teamwork enhances the academic and personal growth of students throughout the school.

Essential skills for a successful Counselor include strong communication abilities, both oral and written, effective time management skills, excellent organizational skills, and the capacity to build relationships within the school community.
