(USA) Senior Director, Merchandising Operations

Position Summary...What you'll do...Directs inventory plans for complex strategic business units by reviewing annual, monthly, weekly, and daily projections against actual results; monitoring category markdown budget; reviewing and approving markdown proposals; developing prioritized markdown recommendations for senior management when markdowns exceed budget; aligning category inventory and turn plans; and preparing inventory projections, financial analyses, and reports to understand and explain business trends and performance. Drives third-party supplier relationships and contracts, operational performance, and financial profit and loss by developing relationships and interfacing with vendor leadership personnel who provide services over a wide range of products; reviewing and analyzing contract negotiations and contract management; ensuring that operational expenses are properly managed; and ensuring that budgets and financial commitments are met. Develops and prioritizes key business strategies and communication platforms by managing cross-functional initiatives that impact store and corporate processes; developing merchandising programs and initiatives, customer and company communications, and associate training content; making recommendations for system support developments; recommending merchandise priorities for store operations; providing insight to senior management and other business partners on key issues and opportunities to drive the business; and translating merchandise strategies for assigned departments into executable programs for store operations. Guides strategic direction on corporate initiatives related to business processes and systems by building and maintaining relationships with senior leadership; assembling a cross-functional team to develop strategy; conducting a cost-benefit analysis to evaluate potential strategies; prioritizing corporate goals and objectives; gaining alignment from cross-functional business areas on business processes; and driving accountability for implementing corporate initiatives and achieving division goals within cross-functional areas. Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent. Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy. Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
