What You Will Be Doing:
We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer to support the development of innovative digital farming solutions, specifically for the Preceon (Smart Corn) platform. This role involves building scalable cloud-based microservices and data pipelines while ensuring system security, scalability, and operational excellence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.• Drive continuous system architecture and operational excellence improvement, focusing on quality, scalability, observability, and maintainability.• Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior engineers.• Ensure system security and data privacy compliance.• Stay updated on the latest technologies and industry trends.• Work with diverse data sets, including precision agriculture data and satellite imagery.• Implement efficient algorithms and services for precision agriculture applications.• Contribute to product design sessions, hackathons, and on-farm opportunities.Required Skills & Experience:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development.• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.• Experience with developing scalable cloud-based microservices and data pipelines using container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (Java, Python).• Experience with relational and non-relational data stores.Desired Skills & Experience:• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior engineers.• Strong commitment to quality, as evidenced by code reviews, documentation, and testing.• In-depth understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).• Strong understanding of AWS capabilities (EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, etc.).• Experience using observability techniques to drive support and improvements.• Experience with event-driven architectures using messaging middleware (SQS, JMS, etc.).Pay: $69.30 - $99 /hr.We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States.
