Job Summary:

Position has key responsibility for the warehousing and shipping operations of small animal seed products. This position will assure job duties of the warehouse are assigned to workers and are handled on schedule. Major functional responsibilities include inventory receipt, storage and accuracy, production scheduling, stock rotation, proper warehouse space utilization, transportation service levels and issues, return verification and handling, and maintenance of all warehouse fixtures and equipment. This position requires excellent teamwork, development mindset and communication skills.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all shipments, assures documentation and mode of transportation are industry standard compliant.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of all control points, equipment and resources and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all team members are engaged in good manufacturing practices, including good housekeeping, quality control and the control of waste of all raw materials.
  • Responsible for achieving daily shipping and warehouse goals.
  • Leads by example and demonstrates respect to others with a positive and supportive attitude.
  • Responsible for the implementation of production schedules in the blending department.
  • Leads the scheduling of inbound and outbound containers, trailers, Small Package and Less than Truckload shipments.
  • Ensure entire facility provides a safe, efficient and cost-effective distribution environment.
  • Assures inventory is stored and shipped according to division stock rotation policies.
  • Participates in training of new employees including forklift certification.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify hourly employees’ strengths and weaknesses and provide real time feedback.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Profile

  • High School Diploma or one year to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in warehousing operations with a minimum of two-years leadership experience.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Associates Degree preferred.

  • Job requires 75% work on floor 25% administrative tasks
  • Must have a basic understanding of SAP
  • Ability to coach and develop team members to achieve company goals
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or other employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Must have basic computer skills familiar with Excel, Word and Internet browsing
  • Must exhibit mechanical aptitude as demonstrated through skill-based testing, on-the-job experience, past work experience, and/or education
  • Able to stoop, bend, and climb
  • Must be able to frequently lift/or move 10-40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus

  • Exposure to hot and cold warehouse climate
  • Frequent exposure to motorized warehouse equipment
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and stooping
