WHAT IS THE WARM PROGRAM?

The Washburn Acute Response Model (WARM) focuses on children/adolescents referred through the emergency department or inpatient unit(s) at area Fairview hospitals.  The program provides short term, culturally based, and individualized services in the client’s home, school, community and/or Fairview’s premises.  The services we provide are in person and include assessment for appropriateness of services, crisis intervention, care coordination, case management, bridging to other services, therapy, parent psychoeducation and skills trainings.  The purpose of this program is to assist in transitioning clients to less intensive services, actively work on safety planning, engage other service providers, make referrals for longer term care and improve or maintain children and families’ overall functioning to reduce future out-of-home placements and improve stability over time.

WHAT CAN WASHBURN CENTER OFFER YOU?

Washburn Center for Children is committed to all our employees’ professional development.  During your time at Washburn Center, you will receive continuous clinical training, increased supervision time and exposure to a wide array of clinical needs. This role is a highly collaborative function, and you will experience exposure to all programs at Washburn Center, working in collaboration with a variety of experienced professionals to ensure the best care for the children and families in your care.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are searching for an Acute Response Therapist to take on referrals from the Emergency and Inpatient units and collaborate with hospital staff to set up intakes with families for WAARM therapy services. The WAARM therapist follows up with families to determine if they are interested in participating in short-term services through the program. An intake will be completed and the therapist assesses to ensure that short-term services are appropriate for the client’s immediate needs. 1-5 session to be completed based on client / family need. If short-term services are not appropriate for the client, the therapist assists the family in identifying other community resources to better suit the client’s mental health needs.
