Enhancing workplace satisfaction and sustainability of the University, fostering a positive, and engaging experience to the OneWSU system.As an HR Assistant - Benefits in the HRS Benefits Services, you will provide customer service to WSU employees and external customers while executing clerical and technical processes in support of Benefit Services, including but limited to medical and retirement benefits. You will serve a variety of clients by explaining rules, policies, and procedures to WSU faculty and staff specific to their unique employment type. While adhering to established HRS, University, state, and federal guiles and regulations, you will also:• Produce data reports;• Gather, organize, and process documentation and benefit enrollment forms;• Review, develop, and maintain accurate electronic and paper records, and files;• Prepare correspondence for variety of audiences and purpose;• Develop and update benefit websites; and• Develop, update, and present education presentations and benefits training in collaboration with senior staff.This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.This position is located on the WSU Pullman campus in Pullman, Washington. After completing an initial training period, the selected applicant will be eligible for a hybrid schedule of up to two remote days per week.Monthly Salary:Benefits Assistant 1: $3,167 - $4,194 | Range 36 (Steps A - M)Benefits Assistant 2: $3,643 - $4,865 | Range 42 (Steps A - M)Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. For additional information, please review the detailed Summary of Benefits offered by WSU for Civil Service/Classified staff and Total Compensation.Required Qualifications:To be considered for the HR Assistant 1 level:• Three years of office experience including at least six months of experience in a human resource or related setting OR equivalent education/experience.To be considered for the HR Assistant 2 level:• Four years of office experience, including two years of experience working with medical benefits and/or retirement plans in a human resource department, medical/insurance environment, and/or financial company. Equivalent education/experience may be considered.For All Applicants:• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.• Experience providing customer service both in person and/or over the phone.• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:For All Applicants:• Experience in the human resource functions of benefits, recruitment, classification, compensation, or employee/labor relations.• Experience interpreting and explaining medical and retirement plan information, policies, procedures, and requirements to clients or employees.• Ability to provide clerical/administrative support to multiple individual while balancing deadlines and workload.• Experience presenting group orientations and/or trainings.• Experience utilizing PowerPoint or other presentation software to build presentations.• Experience updating website content (information, and images) using a content management system (CMS) and basic web editing tools.About Human Resource Services - hrs.wsu.eduHuman Resource Services is committed to providing efficient and effective human resource management to the OneWSU system.
