Experienced Diesel Mechanic - Travel Required

San Luis Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is now hiring for a safety conscious Diesel Mechanic to join the team at our hauling location in San Luis Obispo, CA!The starting pay rate will be $30-40/hour, depending on experience. The pay range for this job category is $30-42/hour. We also offer regular wage increases, great family benefits, and stable, year round work.The schedule will be Monday-Friday - 1pm-9:30pm.This person will be traveling to different Waste Connections sites in the Western Region and in Texas about 30-40% of the time and based in our SLO shop for the rest of the time.Responsibilities Include:• Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines• Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.• Interprets diagnostic test results accurately• Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans in our system• Collaborates with other diesel mechanics• Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly• Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely• Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon• Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards• Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standardsQualified candidate must have:• 5+ years experience in a Diesel Mechanic role, waste experience preferred.• Tool set, tool box and proper personal safety equipment required• Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software• Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain one.• Welding experience is a plus• Minimum of a High School diploma or GEDTo be considered for any of our current openings you must complete an application at www.wasteconnections.com.
