Operations Safety Strategy & Compliance Manager

You will report to the Operations Safety and Readiness Lead and can be based out of Mountain View, San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles or Austin. This role has a hybrid work arrangement.

In this role you'll:

  • Protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and mitigate operational risks.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to establish and maintain quality assurance processes, including regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as a safety advocate within the organization, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability among employees and stakeholders through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct analysis of safety data and performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance safety outcomes and reduce incidents.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in the Operations safety landscape, and provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other in internal & external stakeholders to represent the company's interests and influence policy development and industry standards related to transportation safety.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive safety governance framework for operations, encompassing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance.

At a minimum, we'd like you to have:

  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in transportation safety management or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to transportation operations, including but not limited to DOT, NHTSA, and OSHA requirements.
  • You will interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights to drive safety improvements.
  • You will engage and partner at all levels of the organization.
  • You will lead multi-functional teams and promote change

It's preferred if you have:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certification.
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as aviation, military, or logistics.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
