About the team

The Data Governance team is responsible for creating and managing the tooling that safe guards, monitors and governs our data across our business. This is an exciting new team that’s emerging due to the increased business emphasis of ensuring a highly reliable, secure and performant data infrastructure.


About the role

As a Senior Software Developer on the newly formed Data Governance team, you will have the opportunity to flex your technical muscle working end-to-end across the entire stack. You’ll drive the execution and best practices on impactful tools and initiatives to better protect protect our clients data and create cutting edge systems to power that mission. Through deep cross-functional collaboration, you’ll deliver on impactful implementations such as our Data Mapping initiative or BigID migration, keeping our client’s data as secure as possible and driving the future of secure, Canadian banking!

As a Senior Software Developer - Data Governance, you will:
  • Develop company wide tooling such as our cutting edge internal Data Access Request Portal that helps us move toward our goal of creating a singular, seamless and fully automated access request platform in one singular layer
  • Steward the release of new tooling and design processes for data mapping initiatives company wide, and mentor adopters of the platform
  • Drive us toward improving processes around data retention, data deletion requests, sensitive data identification and more
  • Partner with Data, Security and Infrastructure to help develop our strategy and tooling around data observability and monitoring
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all areas of the business, developing software that impacts the front-end, back-end and infrastructure from concept to release


What you bring:
  • Experience across front-end, back-end and infrastructure. You don’t need to be an expert in all but have the ability to communicate technically across each team. Bonus points for working in Data Platform or Security Engineering!
  • Proficiency with any of the tech we use and work with in this role: Python/Flask, React, SQL, Postgres, Snowflake, Redshift, Satori Cyber, K8s, DataHub, DataDog, Splunk, or similar technologies
  • End-to-end delivery of highly scalable, performant software
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and tooling in data security and governance, and the passion to coach and mentor multiple departments of these areas
  • A collaborative and open approach to communication: you are experienced in delivering clear, concise and solution-focused messages, that are easily understood by a cross-discipline team
