The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting team and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. They oversee various accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliation, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in decision-making processes by providing financial insights and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
· Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
· Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
· Generate financial reports for management and stakeholders.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
· Collaborate with other departments to gather budget data and provide insights into financial performance.
Accounting Operations:
· Supervise and guide the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger personnel.
· Prepare / Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations.
Compliance and Audit:
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
· Coordinate and manage external audits, working closely with auditors.
Financial Analysis:
· Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
· Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
Tax Compliance:
· Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Process Improvement:
· Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Cash Management:
· Manage cash flow, including cash forecasting and working capital management.
Risk Management:
· Assess and mitigate financial risks.
· Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Team Development:
· Recruit, train, and mentor accounting staff.
· Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the accounting department.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA certification may be preferred).
· Proven experience (usually 5+ years) in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
· In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
· Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Skills:
· Familiarity with Workday ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
· Knowledge of industry-specific accounting standards (e.g., translation services or private equity).
· Experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools.
An Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of an organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. They must possess strong leadership and technical skills to excel in this role.
