Develops and maintains the data infrastructure to align with business goals, industry standards, and ensures efficient data management and analysis. Collaborates with senior leadership, research, marketing & sales, architects, and developers to design, build, and deploy data warehouse solutions and reporting tools to meet analytical needs.Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities• Develop and execute data strategy aligned with organizational objectives by collaborating with stakeholders to understand business goals. Define and document data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines to ensure efficient data management.• Design, create, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to meet business requirements including data modeling, governance, warehouse aggregation, and BI tooling. Develop and manage an enterprise-wide data dictionary and metadata repository efficiently to support diverse data needs across our cutting-edge data platform.• Evaluate, select, implement, and manage database technologies based on performance, scalability, and business needs. Stay informed about emerging technologies, tools, and trends in data architecture to enhance platform scalability, resilience, and reliability, and collaborate across the team to implement innovative solutions.• Design, implement, and maintain data integration processes, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, to ensure seamless data flow between systems. Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures, define data quality standards, monitor adherence, provide training on data architecture best practices. Create and maintain documentation for data architecture and related processes.• Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive information. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.• Optimize database performance to ensure efficient data access and processing, utilizing exploratory analytics and data mining to drive innovative data utilization strategies. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related performance issues to maintain optimal system functionality.• Facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to design scalable systems. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment.Nature and Scope• Collaborates and consults with executives on complex and multi-dimensional business matters. Evaluates novel problems to determine solutions characterized by technical depth and breadth and the understanding of industry and business dynamics. Decisions and guidance at this level produce high risk and high impact actions that change the strategic course of the business.• Influences business decisions made by leadership. Recommends operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results. Acts as a strategic advisor to top management. Typically operates with broad latitude in a complex environment.• Provides technical training to others as needed at all levels of the organization. Mentors staff and advises management on key technical strategies. This position does not have supervisory or management responsibilities.Work Environment• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.Education and Experience• Typically requires a PhD degree and 15+ years of specialized experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 10+ years of experience in a related field. Maintains a deep level of technical expertise that drives business and executive decisions.Preferred Qualifications• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.• 10+ years proven experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role - REQUIRED.• 5+ years of experience with cloud data technologies including Azure, Snowflake, AWS, Apache Airflow - REQUIRED.• Must have a track record of building solid and effective working relationships and trust of IT leaders.• Strong knowledge of database management systems and data integration technologies. Experienced in one or more automation and scheduling tools (for example Redwood, Airflow, etc.)• Experience with programming languages – SQL, Python, and AWS Glue.• Deep understanding of API connectivity and data streaming architecture.• This person will sit on the Architecture Tech Review Board with a focus on data and how it fits in our overall architecture.#LI-SH1#LI-RemoteIf you’re looking to play a role in building America, consider one of our open opportunities.
