Survey Instrument Operator

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Survey Technician with SUE experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility investigations and mapping, combined with a passion for accuracy and detail. This role involves working on exciting projects, from infrastructure development to urban planning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct utility investigations using SUE methods (Levels A-D). 
  • Operate and maintain surveying and utility detection equipment (GPR, electromagnetic locators, GNSS equipment, etc.).
  • Collect detailed utility locations to create reports and deliverables using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or GIS software.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Team leaders to ensure data accuracy and project success.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • This role requires extensive travel, including the possibility of multi-day deployments both within the state and across the country. 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in land surveying and SUE practices.
  • Proficiency in GNSS, total stations, and data processing software.
  • Strong understanding of SUE standards (ASCE 38-22) and utility mapping techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Good physical condition and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and various terrain.
