The Opportunity – Senior Engineering Manager - Payables (Remote - USA / CANADA)

Wrapbook is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple teams of engineers and collaborate closely with product leadership in complex problem spaces within our Ruby on Rails tech stack. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing managers at various experience levels and a strong ability to partner with product leadership at a strategic level.


What you’ll do:

  • Leadership Development: Mentor and guide engineering managers at a range of experience levels, fostering their growth and enhancing their leadership skills.

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with product and design leads to provide strategic insights, support, and partnership, ensuring alignment amongst design, engineering, and product.

  • Clear Decision-Making: Serve as a key decision-maker in engineering discussions, providing an engineering perspective in both product meetings and among engineering teams.

  • Project Management: Demonstrate exceptional project management skills by successfully overseeing projects that span multiple teams and functional areas of the product, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Effective Communication: Maintain open lines of communication across teams and with leadership, regularly informing stakeholders of progress and challenges, and proactively seeking assistance when needed.


What you’ll have:

  • Over 3 years of proven technical leadership skills using technologies and frameworks including Ruby on Rails and architecture.

  • Experience leading scrum or Agile teams.

  • Extensive experience in managing engineering teams’ in a range of capacities, from day-to-day activities to overseeing managers leading their own teams.

  • Strong background in strategic collaboration with product leadership.

  • Proven ability to make informed decisions, guide discussions from an engineering standpoint, and bring diverse stakeholders to consensus.

  • Exceptional project management capabilities, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and foster collaborative problem-solving. Ability to communicate project risks upfront as well as along the project lifecycle.

  • Build high quality and fault tolerant products while fostering an inclusive team environment.

  • Work with product, UX, Data and other disciplines to scope the best solutions for our customers.

  • Grow the team when applicable through internal development and helping with external hiring.
