Our team of over 200 employees thinks big and moves fast, and we’re looking for smart, hardworking builders and scalers to join us on our journey to create a better future of work.
📐 About this role :
Do you want to help build and scale a commercial legal function from the ground up? Do you enjoy thinking at a strategic level and rolling up your sleeves to get things done? Then look no further. We are a small, yet mighty team of lawyers and are looking for an experienced commercial legal professional to help support our rapidly-growing sales org, foster Writer’s mission to build the generative AI platform for the enterprise, and continue our mission of building a legal team that does things differently. Reporting to our Head of Commercial, you will work together to build and scale Writer’s commercial legal function, and provide additional legal support across the company on additional projects as necessary. Let’s break the mold together, not be afraid to think outside the box, and have some fun building something special.
🦸🏻♀️ Your responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating in-bound and outbound commercial agreements along with supporting our strategic partnerships team - particularly with large, enterprise companies. SaaS experience is a must have
Create thoughtful processes that benefit the business (not just legal) and support our internal stakeholders
Help train and enable the sales and other go-to-market teammates on navigating our commercial agreements in order to accelerate sales cycles
Go above and beyond - find creative ways to bring value to the legal team and Writer as a whole (building and improving on contract management tools, creating helpful workflows, systems and policies… you get the idea!)
⭐️ Is this you?
Law degree from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the U.S.
7+ years of experience where you’ve spent the majority of time working in-house supporting a SaaS-based platform
Experience negotiating commercial contracts with large enterprise companies (bonus points if you’ve navigated the end of month/quarter/year sales rush and lived to tell the tale)
You are a business person first that also happens to be a lawyer (check your legalese at the door!)
You are curious, reliable, like to move fast, and have a low ego
You are a great communicator and are solutions-oriented
