Job Description

A Special Operations Guard is responsible for deterring, detecting, and responding to potential or active threats directed at Wynn guests, employee, and property. While on duty, it is expected that a Special Operations Guard operate with a high level of professionalism, vigilance, and display proper discernment during all interactions, all while providing exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct a visual inspection of every patron(s) and item(s) entering their vicinity for potential threats.
  • Greet all guests and employees in a courteous and professional manner. Must be familiar with the entirety of the property to answer questions when needed.
  • Facilitate guest requests in accordance with their assigned duties.
  • Conduct quarterly proficiency and development training to include quarterly firearm
    qualification, tactics training as well as monthly sustainment training.
  • Investigate and respond to any significant incidents or incidents requested by the Security Communications Center (SCC) and SOG shift management.
  • Take charge and actively mitigate incidents involving weapons or suspects known to illicit physically aggressive behavior.
  • Relay all operational changes during incidents to the Security Communications Center and request additional resources when needed.
  • Document all incidents, in accordance with, the security department guidelines, to include voluntary statements and department specific incident/reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate the process of documenting and storing prohibited items.
  • Interact with all individuals on Wynn property suspected to be in possession of prohibited items to determine whether they are in possession of these items.
  • Advise patrons of the Wynn policies and appropriate solutions for their specific situation.
  • Conduct searches of individuals who’ve been detained by any member of the security team.
  • Conduct visual and physical inspections of guests’ property that are perceived to be concealing prohibited items.
  • Perform escorts for armed patrons, outside contractors, VIPs, vendors, and law enforcement personnel as necessary.
  • Responsible for performing executive protection services, including risk assessment, threat analysis, to ensure the safety of high-profile individuals.
  • Become versed in use of force application, as dictated by the company’s Use of Force policy.
  • SOGs must effectively manage use of force incidents; limiting liability, minimize business disruption, and preventing guest and employee injuries.
  • Detain any individual (s) suspected of committing a crime on Wynn property.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Wynn standards of exceptional service to patrons and
    employees.
  • Will adhere to all Forbes Five Star standards in order to maintain the integrity of the
    Wynn|Encore Las Vegas ambiance while promoting hotel facilities and services.
  • Understands and is well-versed in the resort, hotel features and services including all outlets, hours of operation, activities and events available to patrons.
  • Work to resolve any issue that arises from either patrons or employees.
  • Will promote a positive guest experience at all times.
  • Respond to incidents where there are threats or acts of violence against either patrons or employees and detain individuals if necessary, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Perform crowd control and scene management.
  • Control security incident scenes for safety and to protect the dignity of both patrons and employees.
  • Provide medical assistance (to include, but not limited to First Aid, CPR and AED application) to any employee or guest in accordance with their medical training until official medical units arrive and take control of the situation.
  • Perform ID checks to confirm compliance with state laws and Wynn policies.
  • Communicate via radio in a clear and concise manner using clear language and radio codes.
  • Attend required training classes and incorporates knowledge gained into daily work practices.
  • Look for opportunities to assist peers, patrons, other departments or leaders at all times.
  • Maintain knowledge of gaming, state and city laws.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will currently possess a Nevada Carrying Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit or a HR 218 (law Enforcement Officer Safety Act) card. Candidates who do not currently hold either of the certifications must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada CCW or HR 218 within six months of their hire date. Once obtained, the CCW or HR 218 certification must not expire.
  • Must be able to obtain and possess a valid Nevada Gaming Registration, an Alcohol Awareness Card (AES), First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Must acquire a valid Nevada Driver's License upon employment.
  • Minimum 4 years of military or law enforcement service, relevant armed professional experience may be utilized to supplement and achieve the required minimum of 4 years.
  • Successfully pass a psychological evaluation that will be referred by the company.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent is required, college graduate preferred.
  • Ability to work alone and within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently and professionally. Additional languages are
    welcomed.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with a working knowledge of basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook email, etc.).
  • Must be able to work and stand inside/outside during all weather conditions.
  • Able to physically restrain individuals when the condition to detain exists.
  • Must be able to respond in a controlled demeanor during stressful incidents and potential crisis situations.
  • Must be able to remember and depict details of incidents in written and oral format.
  • Must be able to train and learn the SOG operational standards within the first two weeks of employment and have the ability to train and sustain to the standards throughout employment.
  • Training standards include use of force, firearms application, defensive tactics, mechanical restraints, search procedures, expandable baton, crisis, and emergency response.
