Digital Insight & Analytics Team Lead

How you’ll make an impact


As a Team lead  in the Data & Analytics team, you will be responsible for delivering high quality data analysis and insights frameworks to enable fast decision making and strategic design. You will  play an integral role in supporting insights and decision making. You will be responsible for leading the requirements capture, data collection, analysis, visualization and storytelling.


The Data & Analytics team is responsible for empowering Xero to deliver successful digital, customer & marketing outcomes through actionable insights. We enable customer, marketing and digital product teams with key information to; understand the current trends, customer and landscape, inform and motivate customer behavior and shape customer & marketing strategy. 


What you’ll do
  • Lead & provide support, advice and coaching to analysts in your team to enable them to develop their career and grow.
  • Manage the roadmap and backlog of work for your area, and work with stakeholders to prioritize items for delivery while maintaining a healthy team.
  • Support Marketing and Digital Product  decisions and help to establish a data driven understanding of the current customer behaviors.
  • Effectively and independently combine complex data from multiple sources and identify new sources of data to augment your analysis.
  • Measure, benchmark and analyze the performance of Xero’s digital experiences across multiple platforms and channels
  • Ensure all campaigns   are successfully designed and analyzed.
  • Effectively utilize both report writing and dashboards as part of interpreting product insights for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Consistently apply best-practice techniques, and produce sharable, reproducible results.
  • Present complex analysis to stakeholders, in a simple and compelling way.

  • Provide consulting and thought leadership to stakeholders.
  • Prioritize effectively and take responsibility for work requested of your portfolio area, demonstrating high levels of accountability and delivery on schedule.
  • Data is able to be used to create decision making systems which will help Xero proactively manage digital performance and customer engagement. 
  • Programme recommendations and decisions are supported by robust data analysis.


What you’ll bring with you
  • Critical competencies:
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL for data extraction, manipulation and analysis.
  • Ability to apply key statistical concepts to your work.
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics & Big Query 
  • Experience with Tracking & GTM
  • Proficiency in Mixpanel. 
  • Experience with Data visualizations, BI tools such as (Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy)
  • Ability to tackle unfamiliar domains and work with complex and diverse datasets
  • Provide objectives and goals with loose guidelines/directions.
  • Clearly communicate expectations. 
  • Have an open mind and the flexibility to change opinions.

  • Experience:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • 5  years or more experience in data & analyticsMust have digital or tech industry experience.
  • Experience in data analysis in Marketing domains : Customer/ Digital.
  • Experience delivering analytics in the form of visualizations and interactive dashboards.
