Milestones is a therapeutic transition program serving students ages 15-19 who are finishing high school or preparing to launch to college. Our students have attended prior treatment programs, but need the structure and support of a transitional living experience. Milestones students attend the local public high school and/or community college, obtain jobs in the community, and learn independent living skills. Each student receives individual, group, and family therapy while living in our homes in downtown Kalispell. Our homes are staffed 24/7, and while students are build increased independence as they work through the different Milestones or phases.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time (30-40 hours) hourly position with benefits. There are 3 weeks reserved each year to allow for family visits. Staff are able to request work hours, PTO or unpaid time off during these breaks if there are not trainings scheduled. Mentors are responsible for fostering healthy relationships, guiding outings, and upholding consistent program expectations with adolescents in a therapeutic residential setting.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach and model healthy boundaries, lifestyle, and life skills.
- Supervise and support household responsibilities
- Participate in routine maintenance and upkeep of homes.
- Develop and model positive relationships with students.
- Cultivate self-confidence, maturity, and accountability in students.
- Mediate peer relationships.
- Transport residents to appointments and activities.
- Participate in the daily schedule with the students including fitness times, chores, meal preparation and planned evening activities.
- Supervision of students during outings.
- Thoughtful risk management in all programming.
- Participate in weekly treatment team meetings as needed to collaborate with clinical staff to ensure the best therapeutic outcomes for students.
- Timely documentation with notes and Best Notes platform.
- Mindful adherence to all Milestones policies and procedures.
- Support of the Milestones mission statement, and by extension, the general program structure, rules and limits.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Interest/Experience working with adolescents.
- Ability to remain in control during stressful situations, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Attention to detail and organization are critical skills at Milestones.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Team player with a desire to add value to the program and Milestones community.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in youth services and/or outdoor recreation equal to a minimum of two years. College degree or equivalent experience are preferred.
