Principal Software Engineer (Python)

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to work on a project in the healthcare industry.

You will be part of a distributed team developing new technologies to solve real business problems and your work will allow our client to more efficiently provide better care to their members.We are looking for someone with good communication skills, ideally with experience taking decisions, proactive, used to building software from scratch, and with good attention to detail. 

What you will do:

- Help our client change the future of work for doctors in the United States by applying state of the art technology solutions, including data API development, modern integration patterns, frameworks for building beautiful, responsive applications, machine learning, natural language processing, and explicable AI - in partnership with key partners.

- Support all business lines, including sales and business development, by enabling those teams while balancing competing goals, and making difficult trade-offs when required.

- Partner effectively with Product, User Experience, Growth, and Operations toward building best-in-class systems to give physician partners insight into their patient panels.

- Support the technology needs of various departments by creating a data-literate ecosystem, and helping the wider organization understand how the technology helps them and how to think about their initiatives in terms of our capabilities.

- Be a leader, taking initiative and ownership as needed, and connecting across the organization to come up with the best solutions that combine people, process, and software.

What you will bring:

- 8+ years of experience in results-driven software development.

- Deep expertise in backend development using Python.

- Strong familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, S3, SNS, DynamoDB).

- Experience in leading and designing large-scale, complex projects.

- Proficiency in writing comprehensive tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) and implementing high-quality code.

- Knowledge of serverless technology and experience with PySpark and Apache Spark.

- Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code.

- Exceptional communication skills, both technical and non-technical, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.

- Demonstrated success in fostering teamwork and effective collaboration across diverse functions and teams, with a passion for collaborative work.

- Proven ability to navigate and manage uncertainty and ambiguity with confidence.

Nice to have:

- Experience in Healthcare and highly regulated environments is preferred.

- Experience with startups is not necessary, but you should be looking forward to bringing order, power, and role definition to an initial blank slate.

- A plus: not afraid to dive into DevOps as needed and help our client iterate on an efficient build/deploy process and a solid infrastructure.
