AWS Cloud Engineer - HPC Specialist

Zifo is hiring! We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with a strong background in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. The ideal candidate will design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure on AWS tailored to support compute-intensive HPC workloads. This role requires a mix of cloud engineering expertise and hands-on experience with HPC services and technologies.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Design & Deployment:

    • Architect and implement AWS-based solutions to support HPC workloads.
    • Develop infrastructure as code using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
    • Configure and manage compute clusters, ensuring they meet performance and scalability requirements.

HPC Workload Management:

    • Deploy and manage HPC services on AWS, including tools like AWS ParallelCluster, FSx for Lustre, and AWS Batch.
    • Optimize HPC applications and clusters for efficient processing, cost, and performance.
    • Integrate job schedulers (e.g., SLURM) and manage resource allocation for compute-intensive tasks.

Security & Compliance:

    • Implement best practices for AWS security (IAM, VPC, encryption, etc.) and ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Monitor and audit cloud environments to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.

Automation & Monitoring:

    • Develop and maintain automation scripts for deployment, scaling, and backup processes.
    • Use AWS monitoring tools (CloudWatch, AWS Config) and third-party solutions to ensure high availability and performance.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to HPC clusters and cloud infrastructure.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

    • Work closely with software developers, data scientists, and IT teams to support evolving workload requirements.
    • Keep current with AWS updates and HPC technology trends to continuously improve the infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years experience in AWS cloud engineering, particularly with compute-intensive or HPC workloads.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation, and related management tools.
  • Experience with HPC-specific services on AWS, like AWS ParallelCluster, FSx for Lustre, and AWS Batch.
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments and scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
