About the team

The Enterprise Systems team is responsible for the operating system of Zipline – we develop critical applications that enable the manufacturing and maintenance of our drone delivery system. Our team is currently innovating and refining systems to optimize various aspects of our operations across the business, such as within finance, supply chain, inventory, manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering tools.

The Role 

We are looking for an intelligent, driven, and collaborative intern who loves challenges and aspires to contribute to a profoundly impactful mission. You will learn how to work in a production codebase, take ownership of critical problems, collaborate with a team of passionate engineers and understand the needs of stakeholders with diverse perspectives. You will architect and implement solutions that help Zipline’s mechanical engineers, maintenance technicians, warehouse managers and many others achieve their objectives.

What You'll Do 

  • Collaborate with software engineers and business stakeholders to deliver impactful full stack software solutions
  • Deep dive into your users’ problems to simplify software workflows which enable the business to move efficiently
  • Design and develop both new applications in a modern infrastructure and augment an open source ERP system which are used to plan, build, and deploy flight hardware.
  • Develop intuitive scalable solutions using technologies like React, PostgreSQL, Python, and other frameworks.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions to build scalable and distributed systems that are used around the world

What You'll Do 

  • Experience developing software using Python, Go, or a similar object-oriented language.
  • Frontend experience using React, Angular, or similar Javascript frameworks
  • Experience with version control (Git), continuous integration, and continuous delivery concepts
  • An interest in working with business stakeholders to understand their real world problems and architect solutions to their needs

Nice to haves

  • Database experience with PostgreSQL, Sqlalchemy, or similar database technologies
  • Knowledge of database fundamentals like designing schemas, indexing, migrations

What Else You Need to Know   

Our internships are full-time positions, in-person at our South San Francisco office. We will host our Summer 2025 interns from May - August.

The starting cash range for this role is $40 - 44 / hour. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and working location. The total compensation package for this role may also include: overtime pay; commuter benefits; paid sick time; and more.
