Job Description

About Buildings + Places: 

Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management.  This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create.  Our Cleveland studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education, and Federal market sectors.  We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget. 

AECOM is seeking a Planning Intern to be based in Orange, California.

This position is expected to begin in May 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Urban Planning, Architecture, Geography, or Landscape Architecture and must have completed at least one year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.  Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in using MS Office and ESRI/GIS.
  • Knowledge in using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, or other related CADD software.
  • A university student who has more than one year of school remaining before earning a degree is preferred, these students typically are Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors in university.
  • Successful Interns may be eligible to return for additional internships
  • An ability to work collaboratively as a team player with both junior staff and senior leadership.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
