Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Rail Systems / Catenary Engineer for employment within the New England region. Here you will have the opportunity to work side by side with career rail professionals throughout the US. delivering projects for transit clients with a focus on electrification and overhead catenary systems or OCS.

Responsibilities and typical duties:

  • Be an integral part of our WORLD CLASS RAIL DESIGN group. 
  • Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Perform quality control reviews and design checks of railroad projects.
  • Lead major tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state & local regulations Overhead Catenary System (OCS).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, OpenRoads or OpenRail.
  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.  As a condition of employment, selected candidate must have a Valid Driver's License and pass AECOM's  Motor Vehicle Records review. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE ).
  • 10 years' experience in railway systems (Overhead Catenary Systems/Traction Power).
  • Experience working with Connecticut Department of Transportation, Metro-North Railroad, Amtrak, MBTA, or other passenger/commuter railroad agencies.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
