Supervisor, Environmental Services

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Services Supervisor for the Environmental Services (Housekeeping) Department at Chilton Medical Center.  Required hours are 3:00PM-11:00PM (can vary), including weekends and on-call.
 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Directly overseeing/developing Supervisors/Team Leaders to ensure quality training to Team Members as needed, improving patient throughput by reducing turnaround times for discharge cleaning.
  • Arrange with the Environmental Services supervisor for any special activity functions such as Auditoriums and other set-up etc.
  • Will oversee shift operations in the Environmental Services department.
  • Receives work assignments from the Manager.
  • Establishes daily work schedule for the staff along with the Manager for special and routine assignments.
  • Assigns duties to the staff, issues supplies and equipment, and inspects completed work.
  • Works with the staff.
  • Maintains established standards of cleanliness within patient and other hospital areas.
  • rains employees by demonstrating use of cleaning material and equipment. explains methods of cleaning and most economical use of materials and manpower.
  • Participates in the performance appraisal of employees as well as personnel actions (i.e. hours changes, termination's, salary changes, etc.).
  • Applies knowledge of all job assignments and cleaning procedures and use of equipment in the work assignment.
  • Applies a knowledge of isolation techniques and follows up to assure that sanitation and safety regulations are followed
  • Coordinates the removal of trash from grounds and entrances and inspects these areas daily.
  • Reports the need for repairs and maintenance. Follows up for completion. 
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to bend/lift/push/pull at least 50lbs.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for an extended period of time.

Relevant Experience:

  • Great customer service/people skills preferred.
  • 1-2 years of hospital housekeeping experience/worked as a hospital housekeeper/environmental services aide preferred.
  • 2-3 years of housekeeping supervisory/management experience in an acute care hospital environment preferred.
  • Strong computer (Excel, Word and Power Point) skills a must.
