Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. * Performs clinic reception including greeting patients, patient registration and answering the telephone.
3. *Prepares patient for x-ray; explains procedures to patient and/or family; prepares room, equipment and materials as needed.
4. *Positions patient and arranges immobilization and support devices for patient.
5. *Practices radiation protection/safety techniques to limit exposure to patient and medical staff.
6. *Adjusts equipment controls; determines proper voltage and exposure time; administers routine x-ray exams.
7. *Observes patient and machine during procedure; reports unusual occurrences to physician.
8. *Documents procedure performed in patient record.
9. *Maintains CD library of x-rays taken; retrieves and logs x-rays requested or copies made for patients or referring physicians.
10. *Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment; maintains inventory and orders x-ray supplies.
11. *Performs x-ray quality assurance tests and maintains x-ray quality assurance records.
12. *Transmits x-ray images to radiology group for interpretation; completes follow-up of x-ray transmission with phone call; ensures hard copy of report is given to physician for review and notation.
13. *Reports any problems with x-ray equipment promptly to physician; notifies Office Supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as directed.
14. *Turns in personal radiology exposure badges for evaluation as required by state law.
15. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technologist program required. Current certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
