The Float Pool provides a unique experience to care for diverse populations of patients in many units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. This position is fast-paced and constantly changing, so adaptability and flexibility is important. Still, you will find a solid, united culture, where caregivers continuously encourage each other to be their best and provide unparallel patient care. Every day, you will be celebrated for all you bring to Cleveland Clinic. 

A caregiver in this position works rotating days/evenings from 7:00AM – 7:30PM and 11:00AM - 11:30PM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.  
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 
  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. 
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. 
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as directed. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
  • One year of acute care RN experience in a hospital setting 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Full range of body motion for handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
  • Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
