What You Will Be Doing

ChargePoint is looking for a highly motivated, creative and versatile Lead Power Electronics Systems Engineer interested in applying broad skill-set towards design, developing and testing our next generation vehicle charging platform. You will play a key cross-functional role and work on many aspects including architecture, design (electrical hardware and some software), testing and validation to ensure a high-quality system in a rapidly evolving problem-space.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Architect, design and integrate various sub-components into high quality charger system at ChargePoint
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, firmware and test to resolve early (architectural) and late (lab, test & validation) dependencies of Systems Engineering team
  • Establish requirements and internal test standards for all aspects of the EV chargers: cables, enclosure, labels, PCBAs, etc to various teams
  • Participate in HW design reviews, as well as mentor other members of the team
  • Perform and document system level safety analyses such as DFMEA and FTA
  • Test, characterize, and validate the functionality of full product as defined in the PRD/ERD
  • Work with Safety and Regulatory to troubleshoot and fix any issues that arise during compliance testing
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging on issues related to the full system. Assist the Sustaining engineer is resolving field issues when needed.

Requirements

  • B.S required in Electrical Engineering (M.S preferred)
  • 6+ years of experience in bringing electrical products to market: design, development, and test
  • Experience working with cross functional teams: mechanical, firmware, test, and manufacturing
  • Understanding of AC-DC and/or DC-DC Converter topologies and control methods. Power Electronics product design experience a plus.
  • Experience working with three phase power (240Vac to 480Vac) and DC voltages up to 1500V
  • Current knowledge of industry standards for consumer and industrial products
  • Knowledge of EV charging standards a plus
  • Some travel is expected

 

Location

Campbell, CA

ChargePoint is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $85,000 to $220,000. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
