Job Description

Global payments are complex and ever-evolving. At Checkout our software engineers develop the next-generation payments technologies that enable our Merchants to boost their acceptance rates, cut processing costs, fight fraud, and create cutting edge technology that enables extraordinary customer experiences.

We're looking for Engineering Managers who bring fresh ideas, have a curious nature and are passionate about working in an Engineering environment which focuses on building products to achieve the company's strategic goals. You’ll get to work with teams from across Checkout.com’s portfolio of products and services who all have a real customer first philosophy.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow high performing teams that drive projects critical to Checkout's needs. We need our managers to be versatile, display exceptional leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Passionate about leading technical teams, being a leader as well as a manager
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary technical engineering team on technically and conceptually exciting problems
  • Proven experience in recruiting or building and developing a team
  • Experience in crafting and leading scalable, high-efficiency, or highly available systems
  • Solid understanding of SDLC principles and Architectural and Design patterns for Backend and/or Frontend components
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment using DevOps principles
  • Experience with cloud-based application development (we use AWS)
  • Enjoy learning new skills and using the best tools for the job
  • Experience with consumer-facing products and domains would be a bonus but is not a must

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Manage and support our multidisciplinary team of engineers working on proprietary algorithms as well as help them advance in their careers
  • Support the design, development, and delivery of new product features across our multi-stack ecosystem
  • Take ownership of the architecture, solutions and the delivery of projects
  • Uphold high standards for our uptime and latency requirements while not sacrificing the veracity of API responses
  • Participate in maintaining the team’s cohesion and healthiness
  • Handle our incident response and post-incident investigation processes; participate in on-call rotations
  • Make critical choices in planning for the long-term vision of our infrastructure and its quality while not overengineering
  • Maintain high-quality standards for code, infrastructure, and documentation
  • Support the creation and maintenance of user documentation
