Overview

The Urgent Care Float Pool Emergency Nursing Services Technician performs a variety of supportive technical, clinical, and clerical tasks under the supervision of licensed nursing staff and as directed by the Charge Nurse or Nursing Department Director. The Nursing Technician demonstrates commitment to providing safe and effective care at all urgent care sites.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supportive patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.
  • Provides clerical assistance in the absence of a unit secretary.
  • Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees. Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Shares responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skill level).

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience A minimum of one year experience working with children or families. Emergency Department experience is preferred.
  • CNA required upon hire OR if not a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), one of the following criteria must be met:
    • Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing education program and have successfully completed the fundamentals in nursing course.
    • Within the past three (3) years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state examination in any state.
    • Worked as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician within the past three (3) years.
    • Completed an UAP (unlicensed assistive personnel) program in Missouri or another State (that meets current regulatory requirements) within the past three (3) years.
    • Completed a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in the country.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $17.83/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
