Under the supervision of the CTTC Training and Test Center Manager, conduct CDL License testing in compliance with federal and state laws. Cooperate and work with The Department of Public Safety and The Bureau of Motor Vehicles assigned staff to ensure tests are being administered properly and information is entered into BASS and CSTIMS computers so new drivers can obtain their Commercial Drivers License.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Administer the appropriate level of CDL testing2.Checks CDL testing candidates in BASS to ensure they are eligible to test3.Enters CDL test results into BASS so candidate can obtain their license4.Check candidates in CSTIMS to ensure they are TPR eligible to test5.Enter candidate information into CSTIMS so they can be scheduled to test6.Enter candidate scores into CSTIMS7.Assist with maintenance of the CDL test pad to include cone placement and replacement 8.Coordinate with The Bureau of Motor Vehicle assigned staff to ensure compliance with regulations
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Having held a Commercial Driver's License, Class A for at least 3 years, with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) preferred.
  • Current certification as a Third-Party CDL Examiner issued by the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
  • Having the right to administer CDL tests without a BMV staff member present.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic computer skills and use of BASS and CSTIMS computer programs
  • Able to stand for long periods of time on blacktop and other surfaces
  • Ability to be outside for extended periods of time.
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Strong adherence to strict testing requirements
  • Ability and willingness to work with testers including non-traditional individuals from all ethnic and socioeconomic levels.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Commercial Class A Driver License
  • Valid and in good standing state of Ohio CDL Examiners License
LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, faculty, and students.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statisical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


REASONING ABILITY


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

The work is performed in an office-like environment with a minimal amount of noise.
