Position Summary:

Cooper Standard is looking to partner with students seeking a mechanical or chemical engineering degree. Candidates should possess technical competence, a solid work ethic, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Students will participate in our rotational program which includes exposure to rubber and plastic sealing, fuel / brake lines, fluid transfer hoses and “hands-on” experience in labs and other facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product development, and/or validation of equipment and processes
May assist in the innovation and creations of concepts for new products, processes, and test methods
Preparation of standard reports/documentation to communicate results to a technical community
Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions, and submits ideas
Works closely with technical, business, engineering, and manufacturing personnel
Must be willing to work overtime as needed and directed by manager
May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other that those specified in this description

Education and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with an overall grade point average of 2.8 or better
Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong written, verbal, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
Must be detail orientated and possess excellent follow-up skills
Works well in a team environment
Ability to gather and analyze data to identify and solve problems
Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism

Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
