Job Description

Dewberry's Nashville, TN office is seeking a Construction Administrator to provide complete construction administration for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. This position requires a general knowledge of MEP system start up and operation, controls, space requirements and cost. Construction Administration includes conducting site visits, keeping contractor(s) on schedule, verifying construction documents are being adhered to, and handling any questions that may arise during the construction phase. The Construction Administrator will make field visits as required and attend meetings; perform as the Principal contact between Dewberry and the client during construction; and represent Dewberry at meetings, interpret and support our designs.

Responsibilities

  • Take over projects at the Pre-Construction Meeting.
  • Organize, attend, and document construction meetings. Take and distribute good meeting minutes, photos, field reports.
  • Conduct construction site inspections.
  • Interface with Designers as needed for the following items:
    • Submittal Review.
    • Questions & decisions during construction.
    • Requests for change orders.
    • Requests for information.
    • Bulletin drawings.
  • Review pay applications.
  • Understand and implement measures to meet the construction schedule. Keep items noted above moving in a timely manner.
  • Organize and maintain project files during construction.
  • Obtain as-built drawings and close-out materials from contractors.
  • Prepare summary reports & Final Report.

Required Skills & Required Experience

Accomplished (at least 5 years of experience) Construction Professional (Engineer, Architect, or Contractor) in commercial construction.  Healthcare construction experience a plus; knowledgeable of the construction process and familiar with AIA contracts; self-motivated with highly developed verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills. Well organized and has experience working with various Authorities Having Jurisdiction. Good conceptual understanding of MEP system start up and operation, controls, space requirements and cost.
