Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a video journalist to work on video podcasts for our video and audio team. We’re seeking someone who understands the intersection of video and audio storytelling and can help develop and produce compelling video podcasts that engage our audience on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and WSJ.com.

This position requires a deep understanding of video podcast formats, including how to visually enhance traditional audio-driven content. The ideal candidate will bring fresh ideas to help evolve and refine WSJ’s approach to video podcasts, ensuring high-quality, visually engaging and journalistically rigorous storytelling.

Top candidates for this position will have a professional background in video journalism, podcast production and digital storytelling. Experience developing new creative video approaches, particularly in the podcast space, will be key. Strong shooting and editing skills, an ability to collaborate with reporters and producers and a deep understanding of WSJ’s core coverage areas are essential.

This position is based in our New York City office and reports into the Executive Producer of News Video.

You will:

  • Conceive, develop, and execute video podcasts for WSJ, integrating strong visual storytelling elements.

  • Collaborate with podcast producers, video journalists and newsroom editors to identify and produce compelling interviews and videos.

  • Shoot and edit video podcasts in-studio, remote and in the field, ensuring high-quality production values.

  • Develop and refine video podcast formats that align with WSJ’s journalistic standards and audience expectations.

  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of production, meeting tight deadlines.

  • Ensure all WSJ journalistic and legal standards are upheld at all times.

  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as news developments may require.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned, including social videos and breaking news assignments.

You have:

  • At least five years of experience producing video content in a daily news environment at a national or global media company.

  • Proven experience in video podcast production, including a strong understanding of both audio and video storytelling techniques.

  • A track record of developing and executing engaging video formats for digital platforms.

  • Strong editorial judgment and a broad knowledge of current events.

  • Experience shooting video with multiple camera systems and setups, in-studio, remote and in the field.

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with expertise in Premiere and working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

PAY RANGE: 80,000 - 100,000 USD
