Software Engineer (SDET)- Performance/Load Tester, Zelle

Engineering at Early Warning (EWS) is a blend of teams organized around many different platforms, capabilities and products that are brought together to power core capabilities at the biggest banks in America – this includes ubiquitous products like Zelle and Paze.

These capabilities are typically provided behind a customer-facing API or integration point which enables the EWS teams to innovate aggressively where big wins can be found. The teams aligned behind these efforts drive their own innovation in partnership with stakeholders.

Overall Purpose

The Software Engineer in Test (SDET) helps deliver the quality and performance of large-scale API, web, and mobile application interfaces. SDET focuses on developing automated functional integration tests and end-to-end tests through open-source test frameworks within an Agile environment to support product quality and performance goals. Candidates for this position are experienced, hands on and self-motivated engineers who can work collaboratively in a continuous integration environment.

Essential Functions

  • Works with the engineering teams to derive testing requirements throughout the development cycle.
  • Tests complex API, web, and mobile based applications with back-end database integrations.
  • Creates and maintains automated test cases that are integrated into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Executes test suites, reviews and diagnoses reported bugs, and ensures overall system quality prior to a production release.
  • Works with cross functional engineering teams to ensure e2e integration testing is performed with appropriate test coverage.
  • Works closely with stakeholders to create SDLC artifacts including test strategy, test plans, test cases, test procedures and test summary reports.
  • Managing source code using Git.
  • Tracking sprint work in Jira and documenting decisions in Confluence.
  • Submit pull requests and integrate review feedback from others on the team.
  • Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/ or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • No previous work experience is required
  • Familiar with Git source control
  • Familiarity of writing automated tests
  • Familiarity with popular testing frameworks and platforms.
  • Familiarity with integration of tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Working knowledge of RESTful service design
  • Excellent written and spoken communication
  • Must US Citizen or US National
  • Background and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
  • Experience developing test automation frameworks using one of the programming languages – Java, Ruby, Node.js or Objective C; Java is preferred.
  • Experience implementing test automation frameworks for API, web or mobile using any test automation tools such as Appium, Selenium, Web driver, Rest-Assured API, and Cucumber.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience preferred
  • Spring / Spring Boot framework is beneficial
  • Experience with SOAP services.
  • Familiar working with common data format standards like XML, JSON YAML, etc.
  • NoSQL experience (Redis, HBASE, AeroSpike, etc.)
  • Experience with Kafka
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes
  • FinTech experience is highly beneficial

The base pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $100,000 - $115,000.
San Francisco, CA/New York, NY in USD per year is: $110,000 - $130,000.

Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
