Description

Surgical Tech/ Level 3 / OR

Shift: Full Time 6:30a-7:00p with required on-call

Location: Emory Ortho & Spine Hospital, 1455 Montreal Rd NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30084

Emory Orthopedic and Spine Hospital utilizes 9 OR rooms with 12-23 cases per day. Coming this fall, expansion to 11 OR rooms! All cases are ortho and/or neuro spine.

 

We are seeking a capable Surgical Technologist III / Operating Room who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population. 

 

  • Individual is considered an expert in at least one specialty area and can competently handle multiple specialties. Specialty areas include General Surgery, ENT, Robotics, Ophthalmology (Corneal; Retina Cell transplants), Complex GYN, Complex Ortho/Spine, Thoracic, and Vascular. Participates in identifying cost containment activities.
  • Monitors and maintains supplies and initiates purchases to ensure par levels. Identifies patient needs by reviewing procedure protocol, physician's request, and assessing the patient's physical needs. Determine the equipment, materials, and resources needed to meet the patient procedure plan.
  • Assists surgeons and nurses with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique, and surgical procedures in the operating room.  Prepares the operating room for surgery by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments, and equipment; obtains special supplies indicated by physician.
  • Identifies verbally or in writing unusual incidents during patient care procedures and identifies complex procedure problems related to patient reaction, symptoms, or changes in needs based on patient reactions.
  • Implements intervention for identified patient problems as related to surgical procedure and patient needs. Utilizes appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent job training.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology preferred. Two years multispecialty experience.
