Enbridge is actively seeking a System Controller. This position works a rotating 12-hour shift and is responsible for monitoring and controlling the real-time operation of compressor stations, pipeline facilities, measuring and regulating stations, and other facilities to optimally receive and deliver varying volumes of gas for various pipeline customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Participates in the development of and is responsible for the implementation of the daily planned activities on the pipeline.  Optimizes pipeline system through efficient use of horsepower and pipeline facilities.  Effectively and proactively relays changes occurring on the pipeline to appropriate field personnel, teammates and gas control management.

  • Coordinates activities between field and gas control personnel on any planned or unplanned outage of pipeline facilities.  During pipeline outages, the Gas Controller is responsible for communicating with field and gas control management regarding any issues that might arise.

  • Utilizes the SCADA System to monitor pressures, pack levels, engine and horsepower data, flow data, alarms, gas quality, and other operational data to enhance decisions.  Utilizes SCADA Systems to operate Houston-controlled compressor stations, regulators, meter flow and pressure set points, RCVs and ROVs to ensure timely flow and pressure requirements.  The Controller is responsible for always limiting pipelines to the maximum operating pressure.

  • Responsible for front-line response to an emergency or abnormal condition in a manner that is consistent with Enbridge’s Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Utilizes web-based applications to administer daily objectives and activities in a proactive manner that compliments system pressure and flow requirements.

  • Apprises management of situations of concern, such as sudden increases or decreases in demand or loss of compression, in order to enhance their ability to make timely and cost-efficient decisions.

  • Performs work in compliance with Company policies and procedures as well as certain regulatory bodies, such as the Department of Transportation (DOT), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Interfaces in a professional manner with internal and external customers through verbal, written, and interpersonal communications.

Required:

  • 2 year degree or 2 or more years of direct experience

  • Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, and Excel

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills within a team environment

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Effective negotiation skills for interfacing with internal and external customers

  • Must live within 40 miles as indicated through Bing mapping platform in order to meet PHMSA’s expectations of continuous hours of rest.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in typical office environment.  Occasional travel.  Dynamic, high-pressure work environment requiring the identification and resolution of critical operational problems within extremely short time constraints. 

  • Employee must have the ability to remain calm and focused during an emergency to perform all job duties. 

  • The initial work schedule will provide for 40-hours per week (day or night shift) and develop into a rotating 12-hour shift.  Holiday and overtime work as necessary are also required.  The noise level in the environment is low.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is required to stand and walk and be able to drive a vehicle.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • 24-Month in Current Role: You are expected to remain in the position detailed in this offer for at least twenty four (24) continuous months before you are eligible to apply for internal vacancies within the Company or its affiliates.

  • The noise level in the environment is moderate.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
