Location: Greater Boston Region (Travel to China required a few times annually)

We are seeking a Chief Investment & Business Officer (CIBO) to lead our capital-raising efforts, investor relations, and financial strategy. This high-impact role is ideal for a biotech fundraising and investment leader who has successfully secured venture capital, private equity financing, and strategic investment partnerships.

The Role

This is more than just a leadership role—it’s an opportunity to steer innovation on a global stage. As CIBO, you’ll drive strategy, bridge cultural and operational gaps between our U.S. and China teams, and spearhead the next phase of our mRNA platform’s development. From aligning R&D milestones to building investor trust, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to deliver breakthrough therapies.

This is a mission-critical role at the intersection of biotech financing and investment strategy. As CIBO, you will drive capital-raising initiatives, shape investor strategy, and position the company for long-term financial success. You will be responsible for fundraising, investor engagement, capital structuring, and financial planning while ensuring alignment between scientific innovation, financing needs, and business growth.


What You’ll Do
Fundraising & Investment Strategy (Primary Focus)
✅ Develop & execute capital-raising strategies to secure funding for R&D and clinical programs.
✅ Lead investor relations, actively engaging VC firms, private equity, institutional investors, and corporate partners.
✅ Identify & cultivate relationships with potential investors, driving financial negotiations and funding agreements.
✅ Structure financing rounds, including private equity stake financing, Series A/B funding, and IPO preparation.
✅ Position the company for valuation growth, ensuring capital allocation aligns with corporate objectives.


Business Development & Strategic Partnerships (Secondary Focus)
✅ Support the CEO & BD teams in identifying and negotiating strategic collaborations, licensing deals, and co-development opportunities.
✅ Oversee market expansion strategies, ensuring that investment decisions align with our long-term commercialization plan.
✅ Leverage investor networks to secure industry alliances and access strategic funding sources.

 

Corporate & Financial Strategy
✅ Work closely with the Board to align financial planning with corporate growth.
✅ Conduct risk assessments, financial modeling, and ROI-driven decision-making.
✅ Ensure capital efficiency & regulatory compliance for biotech financing and investment structures.
✅ Advise leadership on investor expectations, financial milestones, and long-term funding goals.

Qualifications

What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
:

✅ 10+ years in biotech venture capital, investment banking, private equity, or corporate finance.
✅ Proven track record in securing VC/private equity financing and leading biotech fundraising efforts.
✅ Strong investor network with biotech VCs, institutional funds, and life sciences investors.
✅ Demonstrated ability to lead capital-raising initiatives, including Series A/B financing.
✅ Business acumen with a deep understanding of biotech R&D funding models and investment strategies.
✅ Experience working with cross-regional teams in the U.S. and China.


Preferred Qualifications:
