The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project.

We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members.   We are looking for a  Part Time (temporary) Membership Program Facilitator to join our team!

The Part Time (temporary) Membership Program Facilitator reports directly to the Director of Membership. The Membership Program Facilitator retains and increases girl/adult membership for assigned demographic groups through exceptional mission delivery, ensuring that the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) is accessible to all girls and qualified adults. 

  

Duration: 3-6 months (subject to extension)

Weekly hours: upto 20 hours a week

Hourly rate: $20 per hour

Areas this position will serve: primarily towns in Passaic and Bergen Counties, plus department events across GSNNJ jurisdiction. Mileage reimbursement available in line with GSNNJ policies.


Responsibilities include and are not limited to

  • Successfully complete GSUSA New Leader Training, utilize GSNNJ's Council program development tools to effectively plan and track the progress of GSLE delivery, i.e. Volunteer Tool Kit.
  • Effectively register and renew girls and adult volunteers in a timely manner.
  • Prepare for and deliver innovative recruitment and retention programs that are relevant to and increase the number of girls and adult volunteers.
  • Liaise with schools / other facilities to compile rosters for sessions as needed.
  • Ensure all program participants have continuous access to opportunities and support.
  • Provide necessary documentation reporting pertinent incidents and other troop related issues and activities as they arise.
  • Provide follow-up with caregivers as requested.
  • Meets regularly with Director of Membership to plan the effective use of time, reporting progress on activities in target communities
  • Support the Membership Managers with coverage needs as assigned by Director of Membership.
  • Other duties as required.

  

Staff members are accountable for achieving their performance goals that collectively enable GSNNJ to reach our council goals. Each staff member is expected to take an active role in all areas of operations, especially by being alert to opportunities to identify and engage potential volunteers, girl members, donors, vendors, collaborators, etc. and providing contact information to the appropriate staff person.

Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in related field.
  • Committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment with words and actions.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to maintain excellent customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management capability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be available 2:00pm - 5:00pm weekdays (field based) although may not be needed every day during these hours
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to work some evening and weekend hours. Usually Saturdays and only one weekend day per weekend
  • Remaining office hours  as needed can be flexible / remote
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile and auto insurance.
  • Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend meetings during the day/evening/weekend. Mileage reimbursement available.
