Description

Good Harvest Market, Waukesha County’s largest family-owned independent natural grocer with an onsite restaurant and event space  (Hop Harvest & Vine), is currently seeking to hire an experienced, proactive, and mission-aligned Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our leadership team.


The AGM will play a vital role in working  with the General Manager in overseeing store operations, inventory systems, and HR functions, including hiring, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations.


This hands-on leader will collaborate with department managers across our store, including, but not limited to  grocery, wellness, produce, meat & seafood, and also our onsite restaurant/deli and event space, Hop Harvest & Vine, ensuring smooth  daily operations and contributing to the store’s continued growth. Working closely with the General Manager, the AGM will lead key  operational initiatives and help maintain a positive and efficient work environment.


Qualified candidates must have flexible, open availability to ensure they can support various shifts as needed for our retail and restaurant environment. This will include a mix of early daytime shifts, evening closing shifts, and weekend and holiday hours.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Human Resources Leadership – Serve as the primary HR representative, handling  employee relations, workplace investigations, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Staffing – Conduct interviews, assist with hiring decisions, and manage onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Facilities & Equipment Oversight – Manage store facilities and equipment  maintenance, coordinating with department management and external repair vendors as needed.
  • Inventory & Shrink Management – Assist the GM in overseeing store-wide inventory systems, tracking stock levels, and leading efforts to minimize shrink across all departments.
  • Operational Support – Assist the GM in providing hands-on support to department leads in all departments, and stepping in when necessary to ensure customer service and production needs are being met.
  • Compliance – Support compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety policies.
  • Strategic Execution – Collaborate with the GM to implement strategic plans, ensure store readiness, and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Utilize reporting tools to monitor inventory, sales, and labor trends to optimize operations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000 based on experience.
  • Paid Time Off & Paid Holiday options.

Requirements

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or a related industry.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, fostering a positive and engaged work environment.
  • Strong operational background, including inventory management, facilities & equipment oversight.
  • Experience in human resources functions, including hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Experience working with Paylocity, or a similar HRIS preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on role, assisting across multiple departments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to navigate challenges and work effectively with employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment.
  • Flexible and open availability. Must be able to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Salaried employees are expected to work 40-50 hours per week.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, POS systems, and reporting tools for tracking sales, labor, and inventory.
  • Familiarity with natural foods, sustainability, or locally sourced products is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
