Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Shopfloor Solution Architect to join our dynamic IT Architecture team. This role is critical in driving the digital transformation of our manufacturing processes, leveraging Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and flexibility on the shop floor. This Solution Architect will have a deep understanding of manufacturing and logistics processes, coupled with expertise in various technologies such as Ignition, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV's), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and will be instrumental in driving digital transformation and achieving operational excellence within the context of Industry 4.0 principles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and architect end-to-end solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems, including 3Tec, Ignition, AGVs, PLCs, MES, and other relevant technologies.
  • Develop and maintain solution architecture documentation, including system diagrams, data flows, and integration points.
  • Ensure solutions are designed with Industry 4.0 concepts in mind, such as interoperability, data analytics, and automation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to manufacturing systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and methodologies to improve manufacturing processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, Quality, and IT, to ensure alignment and successful solution delivery.
  • Communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field of study
  • Education Equivalency Associate Degree plus 2 years experience delivering technical solutions in manufacturing OR 4 additional years experience delivering technical solutions in manufacturing
  • 7 years experience delivering technical solutions in manufacturing with Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years experience delivering technical solutions in manufacturing with Master's Degree
  • Military Equivalency:  
  • Travel up to 10% per year; much of the travel will be regional day trips.
  • Applicant must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
  • Applicant must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrable background in designing and delivering IT/OT solutions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including production planning, shop floor control, quality management, and supply chain management.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing technologies such as 3Tec, Ignition, AGVs, PLCs, and MES systems.
  • Strong knowledge of integration patterns and experience with integrating disparate systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies, including IoT, big data analytics, and automation.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF.
