THE FINE PRINT// 


The Senior Director of Manufacturing and Supply Chain will report to the COO. As a key executive leader, the Senior Director of Manufacturing and Supply Chain will oversee and optimize all aspects of procurement, logistics, distribution and commissary food & beverage production. This role will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency and scalability as the company executes its strategic growth plan. This dual-role position requires a highly strategic and execution-focused leader with a deep understanding of supply chain management, vendor partnerships, manufacturing operations, quality assurance and food safety within a multi-unit restaurant or foodservice environment.


STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES & OVERSIGHT//


Supply Chain Management

  • Develop and execute a long-term supply chain strategy that aligns with HomeState’s aggressive growth trajectory.
  • Oversee procurement, supplier relationships, contract negotiations and sourcing strategies to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality ingredients.
  • Implement demand planning, inventory control and distribution logistics to support company-wide restaurant operations.
  • Optimize transportation and warehousing solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Leverage data analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as COGS, supplier performance and inventory turns.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, food safety standards and sustainability initiatives.

Commissary Food & Beverage Production

  • Lead and scale HomeState’s centralized food production operations to support menu consistency, innovation, quality and cost management.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for food production, safety and quality assurance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes, equipment and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with ingredient suppliers and packaging vendors to support commissary and organizational needs.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach within the commissary team to oversee daily operations, troubleshoot challenges and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with culinary and R&D teams to align commissary capabilities with new menu innovations.
  • Drive team safety and food safety, including the development, training, and maintenance of safety plans in accordance with all local and state regulations. Monitor and Audit production to maximize efficiency and ensure compliance with all standards of best practices such as but not limited to HACCP, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), USDA, FDA, FSMA, Food Safety, OSHA compliance, and other regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Strategic Growth

  • Build and lead a high-performing supply chain and food production team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and excellence.
  • Develop financial plans, budgets and cost-saving initiatives to drive profitability and scalability.
  • Act as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing insights on industry trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with operations, finance, marketing, HR and IT teams.
  • Take an active, hands-on role in the commissary, working closely with teams to ensure executional excellence and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the implementation of new technology solutions for supply chain automation, ERP systems and production efficiency.

Requirements

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in supply chain, procurement, or food production within a multi-unit restaurant, hospitality or foodservice manufacturing environment.
  • ERP Systems experience focuses on food manufacturing and production workflow. 
  • Relevant certifications and experience with R365 is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills required; must be strategic, self-motivated, agile, problem solving and leadership skills,  and resilient in a fast paced business environment.
  • Kind, personable, servant nature, and enthusiastic, bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Availability to work a minimum of five days per week. Extended hours and/or a sixth day may occasionally be required. Weekends, day shifts and evening shifts may be required.
  • Must maintain regular, predictable attendance, which includes attendance at all scheduled shifts, training and meetings.

DESIRED EXPERTISE

  • Proven success in scaling supply chain and commissary operations to support significant company growth.
  • Strong background in vendor negotiations, logistics, food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience implementing ERP and supply chain management systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and cost-reduction strategies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (6 or more hours per shift, excluding break times).
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 40 pounds (kitchen equipment, bulk food items, pallet jacks, etc.)
  • Ability to frequently bend and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift and use utensils (including chopping), and grip equipment such as pots/pans or other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures ranging from hot (high radiant heat areas, ~ 82°) to cold (food storage areas,  ~ 37 °).
  • Ability to work near open flames, hot cooking equipment, and steam.
  • Ability to perform certain repetitive motion activities (e.g., utilizing certain utensils such as ice cream scoop for extended period of time or placing items on sheet trays in repetition.)
  • Ability to work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to recognize, perceive, and/or comprehend directions and spatial cues (e.g. “hot,” “behind,” “corner,” “knife,” etc.) and communicate the same as needed.
  • Ability to sit, squat, kneel and climb occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles and forklift.
